Thom Duma Jr. Recognized in American Flat Track's Partner Profile for Contributions to the Sport

Thom Duma Jr., the owner of the eponymous Thom Duma Fine Jewelers (TDFJ), was recently interviewed by American Flat Track (AFT) for his lifelong dedication to the sport -- on and off the track.

As the official jeweler for the organization for the past five years, Duma has spent much of his downtime contributing to the wellbeing of AFT and its racers.

Every year, he and his sons design a custom ring for the winners of the AFT Twins and AFT Singles. This season, each one held over a full karat worth of diamonds, bringing the retail value of each ring to at least $10,000. Additionally, his jewelry company allocates money towards TV commercials and sponsorship signage at flat track racing events every season.

But with a successful retail business under his belt, one wonders why Duma does not spend his time on more leisurely activities. His current injuries, broken bones in the foot and a cracked vertebra incurred from a recent off-roading vehicle accident, underscore the risks a rider takes every time he or she steps onto the track.

For the well-loved racer-turned-jeweler, it’s not all about the need for speed.

In his interview with AFT, he states, “I do it for the relationships, both in and out of the paddock. It’s great to be there at the end for the championships, but also getting to reach the wider racing community along the way has meant just as much.”
